Infrastructure & PE Funds
For funds evaluating a deal off someone else's model
The problem
- An investment committee approving a deal is, in practice, approving the model's output as much as the opportunity itself.
- Acquisition and LBO models are frequently built or updated under deal-timeline pressure, exactly the conditions structural errors are most likely to survive unnoticed.
- A model can be internally consistent and still contain a hardcoded override or a broken cross-sheet link that a fund's own diligence team has no fast way to catch before IC.
In practice
Run a structural check on the target's model before it reaches investment committee.
